Natural Resources
The last couple of months, my parliamentary committee has been studying the benefits of the oil and gas sector across Canada. And not just in the traditional “oil and gas” regions of Canada. Far from being a “disease”, Thomas Mulcair’s word, not mine, the oil and gas industry helps out all of Canada. In fact, steel foundries, bus manufacturers, tech companies, engineering firms, and many other companies in the east all benefit from the resource industries in Western Canada. This evidence all contradicts the story put out by Thomas Mulcair when he said Canada has the “Dutch disease”, natural resource growth hurting other parts of the country. Western Canada’s natural resources help out all of Canada. Our growth in the west does not hurt eastern Canada, regardless of what the NDP say.
