Earlier this month, the Supreme Court ruled on the issue of assisted suicide and some commentators said the issue was settled. I doubt if they are correct. First, according to lawyers who have actually reviewed the decision, the press commentary exaggerated and overstated the Court’s decision. Secondly, whatever law the government does come up with will almost certainly be taken to court. Assisted suicide is likely to be part of the public debate for the next few years.
